Our label contain serialize serial number.

1. Is there any setting we can configure to restrict our user to reprint those printed serial number's label?

2. Can we restrict user to edit specific field?

1. Sorry I dont fully understand what you mean by this. Have you looked at Reprint Console as with this you can only print previously printed labels? You will need to be using the System Database and logging to record what being printed in the first place.

2. The simplest way to achieve this is set the fields as Data Entry Fields and get the user to use Print Station rather than BarTender Designer and so that they can only then print and only enter data into the fields you want. You could use locked layers and/or locked fields for the other parts of the label but this is really what the Data Entry Forms are designed to do.

Thanks for your reply.

For the 1st question, we are looking for the setting/configuration that can restrict user to reprint previous printed serialize labels.

For the 2nd question, I will explore the function you share with us.

Is that possible to configure the locked layers/field in BarTender Designer?

Or these locked layers/field only works when we use Data Entry Field and Print Station?

"For the 1st question, we are looking for the setting/configuration that can restrict user to reprint previous printed serialize labels."

Still not sure 100% sure what you mean by this but if you set up job logging and use Reprint Console then all you can do from that is print previously printed labels and so only the serial numbers you have previously printed.

Depending on you version of BarTender you may have access to using either Layers and if you place a field on a layer that you cset to lock can only be edited if that layer is unlocked first:. In the image below the barcode can be changed but the Sample Text field cannot as that is on the 2nd locked layer.

You do not need locked layers when using Data Entry Forms

Below if a dummy label I created with a text, date and barcode field all of which have been linked to data entry inputs on the Form. I have also included a Preview of the template too that the users would see at print time:

At print time it would look like this:and as you can see the Preview changes as data is entered into the label:

If you use Print Station with a label configured as above then at print time all the users would see is an image of the label (to select to open) and then the optional printer selection and quantity fields (#)  and then the above Data Entry field. They would not be able to edit the label in any other way, such as changing the fonts or moving the fields around etc.

I hope this makes sense.

(# If you add a data entry field onto the form and link it to the "Copies" setting in the label then the number of labels to print valie can then be added to the form and if the label is linked/saved connected to a specific printer that the users have access you can configure Print Station to not display the printer selection screen altogether as it would no longer be needed. With 2019 the Printer Selection option can also be added a print time entry field too on a Data Entry Form.)
