easy to identify old BTW files (9.4 SR3 to 2021 R6)
We have 1000s of BTW files, we recently upgraded to BarTender 2021 from 9.43. Many of the old BTW files have already been upgraded. I have been tasked with upgrading any that remain.
I would like a way to easily identify version 9.43 files without having to open each file.
Is this possible?
Thanks

Hello Matt,
Welcome to the BarTender Community Forums!Have you tried opening the files on a word processor such as Notepad?
This should help you identify the documents that need upgrading, and it should be a little quicker than opening them one by one through BarTender Designer. In terms of finding out the BarTender version of multiple files without having to open each individual documents, currently, there is no known method of achieving this I'm afraid.
I hope this information was of use to you and please feel free to reach us again if you have further queries or issues with BarTender.0 -

Well...It does work and shows the file version however, it is still somewhat tedious as I have to open each file. I was hoping to use the preview pane built into Explorer but, even after associating .btw files with Word, Wordpad, Notepad and Notepad++, I can't get it to work with the preview pain. Probably some Windows security setting :-| preventing this function.
I'm open to try new suggestions but at this point I've settled on a combination of file date and just opening them in BarTender. Overall it's going faster than expected.
Thanks for the suggestions
Matt

Agree that this is a pain point with BarTender.
We have 100+ label files, and it sucks to open each one to determine the version. At a minimum the BarTender Designer's "Open Document" dialog should display the version info.
