Installation Failure: ShellExtension.dll Failed to Register - BarTender 2021
Good morning,
I have the same problem with Bartender 2021 R8 32 bits, 30 days trial, on a new Windows 11 PC.

Thank you for reaching us via the Community Forums.
This error is likely to be related to a failure to register the Shellextension.dll. In order to fix this issue, please follow this action plan:- Uninstall BarTender 2021 and reboot the system.
- Install BarTender 2019 (32 bit link)
- Upgrade to BarTender 2021 (when you get the error message during install, ignore and continue)
- Then, take the ShellExtension.dll from another computer with a working Bartender 2021 and replaced it in the computer with the issue.
- Reinstall: Visual C++ 2019 (main site to download here) and .NET Framework 4.7.2
- Then run a repair on BarTender 2021; this allows the installation to work.

On step 3, the installation goes on without any error message and BarTender seems to work.
So y stop the installation on step 3.

Good morning,
We have the same problem on one of the new PCs (Windows 11 Pro 21H2).
But in step 2) installing 2019 R10 (32 bit) does not work.
At the end of the installation, a window opens: The BarTender Licensing Service was not detected on this computer. Please start it and try again...
When I try to start the service : Windows could not start the service ... Error 2 The specified file was not found In the service properties
I found on the service properties : C:\Program Files (x86)\Seagull\BarTender 2021\Licensing.Service.exe" /Service /InstanceName="POSTE_004"

I also have the same issue on an new Windows 11 Pro 22H2 PC and BarTender 2022 R7. I copied the ShellExtension.dll file from another working PC, then installed C++ 2015-2022. Rebooted and got the Licensing server error. Ran a repair install of BarTender, activated the license and all worked well.

Excelente aporte, pude solucionar. En mi caso Instale Bartender 2022, copie el archivo ShellExtension.dll desde otro PC donde estaba ya instalado, Instale visual C++ 2015-2022, Volvi a ejecutar el instalador de Bartender 2022 pero en esta ocasión le di en la opcion Reparar. Listo funcionó, cabe destacar que no tuve que reiniciar el servidor.
