Labels not lining up

I would suggest you go back a step first and ignore BarTender and check that the printer is working correctly itself.

To do this cycle the power of the printer and when it is back in ready state press the Feed button a couple of times to check that only one label feeds out of the unit for each push. If not then you will need to look at where the label sensor is positioned as if that is not located where the label and not interlabel gap passes over it then that can create problems.

Assuming that works then open your Devices and Printers from Control Panel and right mouse click on your TSC driver and select Printer Properties and choose the Tools tab Action drop down and then Form Feed.

If the printer feeds just one label without issue then you then know it is communicating with the PC correctly and then you can then go on to the label creation in Designer.

For this I would suggest starting a label from scratch to make sure that none of the settings you have adjust before are not used. This is especially important of things like the Offset settings as it is extremely rare that you have to adjust things like that and changing those can create a number of issues if you do.

(What may be worthwhile is, from the Control Panel driver is using the Tools > Action and Reset to Factory to remove any settings that you may have saved into the printers config that are not needed and if you do use the Form Feed command afterwards as above to make sure it is still okay).

In Designer start your new label, choosing Blank Template > Your Printer > Specify settings >  Multiple columns (Rows 1 Columns 2) . For side edges measure the amount of backing material that is displayed to the right and left of the label pair (ignore the middle for now) and enter those values into the screen.

For the page size, the width is the width of the full label including backing material whilst the height if the height of the label only (ie ignore the gap) . Adjust the corners to suit (rounded rectangle from the look of it) and then tick the set manually box on the Gap/Pitch and enter size of the interlabel gap between the label pair (5mm etc) .

Then click finish and the label should appear on your screen. Add a text item to the label and go to File and Print and choose 3 labels and see how that prints.

If you get any errors then you may need to adjust the label type and print method on the Document Properties > Stock tab

      I hope this helps

    Hi,

Thanks so much for the reply, I have followed the instructions to the letter and still and not having any luck lining up the label. I have attached the print below. I tried printing 3 times and with mixed results, each time the second row of labels printing off the page.

And what happens if you cycle the power of the printer and feed some labels? Does it feed to the gap each time?

Hi, I have power cycled the printer numerous times and factory reset too, through my testing and the label gap lines up perfectly, when a calibration is run. I seem to get the first line of labels to line up ok, its the 2nd, 3rd cont. rows that seems to drop off little bit each time.

Sorry this is not a printer I have worked with before and just looking at the spec but can you move the label sensor or is it fixed?

When you have the labels loaded is the sensor LED in such a position that a label passes over the sensor and it is not in the gap between the labels? If the latter then the printer will never print correctly unless you can either move the sensor, or redesign the labels so there is a larger gutter to one side forcing the label itself over the sensor or if you are using labels with a black stripe/reflective mark on the rear of the backing paper and have the device set to Labels with Marks.

    Hello,

I'm experiencing the same problem with the gapping with the TEC B-472 printer. I've tried adjusting the set ups as suggested above but there's always the gap that throws the labels off. Would you know if the printer I have is compatible with Bartender?

Yes the 472 is certainly compatible I have a number of customers who are using this with BarTender.

    Hi Peter,

I measured the label and the margins and entered the specifications into the bartender label set up. Can you let me know if there's anything I did wrong that may have caused this gapping? Or would you think this has to do with the set-up of 472 printer ?

The label sensor is set to none whilst it should be configured to Gap/Transmissive. Try that and see how you get on
