Priority Of Processing Files

Dear Support, We have an issue with our production system where we use the following setup: 1) We put a .txt file in a folder which we map with a lay-out file and print to the printer. Whenever the task picks it up, it changes the extension to .dat. 2) An external system checks whether the file is converted to .dat. If that is the case he sends a new batch of labels. 3) Problem is that the second file prints before the first file. Both files print on the same printer and actually the first .txt file should be processed first. But whenever the Commander picks up the file it converts it to .dat before actually sending it to the printer(?) and that's the problem because the next file isn't as big as the first one so it processes way faster and prints first. Using a delay right now in the external system to bypass this problem. But this is not the way as it should be done. Thank you for your help. Kind regards, Lode

  Make sure you assign this task to a Command handler running only a single process as this will force the correct sequential order.

  Thank you for your answer.

  These are 2 seperate tasks with 2 seperate handlers.

  Problem still occuring.

  Any other settings that could cause this behavior?

  Have a single command handler in total, shared between both tasks if necessary.

   

  BarTender 2016, which introduces the Integration Platform has a lot more capability with particular regard to print ordering etc.  You might want to try it out with a view of possibly upgrading.
