Rfid Encoding To Zebra Printer - Zpl Question フォローする

Hi,

 

When printing/encoding to an RFID tag using a Zebra R110Xi4 printer the generated ZPL will always write the Protocol Control bits prior to encoding the actual EPC data.  So the two lines of ZPL together would be this would look like this (EPC value set to 1234567890...1234 for testing purposes):

 

^RFW,H,1,2,1^FD3000^FS
^RFW,H,2,12,1^FD123456789012345678901234^FS
 
 
Does anyone know if there is a way to NOT send that first ^RF command?  We are working with Zebra and they are saying that void are caused by this dual write procedure.
 
Here is the setup:
 
BarTender 10.1 SR4 Enterprise Automation
Seagull Zebra driver 7.3.6
The test format I'm using is attached, however the RFID config is pretty much vanilla with the EPC Gen 2 encoder type

This is the standard way in which BarTender and our Zebra printer drivers generate RFID commands in ZPL.  There are many users that are printing and encoding RFID labels successfully, and for many years, so I'm not convinced that the multi-command structure is what is at fault.  Something else must be going on here.

Thanks for the response Ian.  It turns out that Impinj started distributing inlays using the EPC Gen2v2 standard, more details here if anyone else comes across this:

I was able to use the Search and Replace feature in BarTender to turn this ZPL line:

 

FW,H,1,2,1^FD3000^FS

 

Into this:

 

FW,H,1,2,1^FD3400^FS

 

 

That allowed us to print the new Monza tags using BarTender and the R110Xi Printer.

Ah ha, thanks for the update and congrats on the workaround.  Yes we are aware of EPC GEN2 v2 and have an outstanding feature request (REQ-965) logged in our development system.  As yet though I have no details as to when this will be implemented.

Im facing the same problem with the DogBone monza 4D can you please elaborate on how you solved this problem ?

 

Al my tags are gating VOID because of the new 3400 header.

In BarTender set up a Search and Replace action (aka Print Code Modifier).  Open BarTender and go here:

 

File -> BarTender Document Options -> Select the General tab -> Click on the Action List button -> Create a new Action. See here:

In the print menu, there is an checkbox to enable the modifier:

I've asked one of the Zebra product managers about this and his solution was to completely remove the ^FD command.  BarTender may be capable of this, but I couldn't figure it out.  Just keep in mind that once you change the ^FD you will only be able to print EPC Gen2v2 tags, so you'll have to make sure what your supplier is going to give you or else you'll have to keep changing this setting.

The Print Code Modifier (PCM) can be used to find and delete any ZPL commands that you don't want from the final print job.
