Creating A Database For Barcodes Including Tab & Carriage Return/line Feed
The program has a user name field and password field.
I have BarTender version 6 at my disposal (company issued)
Now I've managed to create the needed barcode by adding the horizontal tab «HT» and carriage return & linefeed «CR»«LF» control characters using screen data. However, I need to make over 200 barcodes, and having only 1-2 barcodes per sheet of 60 labels is not really an option.
I've tried creating a database for this purpose, I tried with a .txt file and with an Excel spreadsheet, but I seem to be unable to get the horizontal tab, carriage return and linefeed to work.
I was hoping anyone here could give me some useful tips, or point me in the right direction, I'm a bit lost at the moment.

A new day, a fresh mind.
I've been poking around in some sample labels and managed to find a solution to my problem.
I now have working log-in barcodes for every employee now0 -

Hi Daisy, can you post your solution? I'd like to know how you managed it0 -
I wasn't able to solve it in the basic Data Source options, and since I was new to bartender, I wasn't fully aware of how the advanced options worked. The substring list kinda confused me. So after looking at a few barcodes from sample labels, I figured out what to do.
The Data source is a table in an excel sheet. The first substring references to the field containing the login, or userID if you will.
The second substring I added the Horizontal tab, which can be found under the button with the right-arrow next to the screen data field.
The third substring references to the field containing the password, and finally the fourth substring I added a carriage return and line feed.
That's basically how I did it. The answer seems so simple, now that I understand it a bit better.0 -
I'm new to Bartender. I'm looking for a way to enable logging in to a program by scanning a barcode.

Just wondering how do you insert the horizontal tab function? Every time I enter it in. All it does is just bar codes the whole line. Thank you in advance for the help!
