I have been playing with the demo pro version for several days. Is there a way to have bartender access a remote mySQL database? For instance, via an IP address? I have read every help file and watched the database access help videos, but this feature is not discussed. There is a competing software out there that does this via a wizard by simply entering the IP address, database name, etc. and it worked instantly, however, I really like the look, feel and usability of Bartender better...
Thanks in advance!
BarTender connects to databases via ODBC and OLE DB. You would enter in the database connection details through these intermediary interfaces. We have plenty of customers using MySQL. See the following training video for details on connecting to a database in BarTender:
Thanks for your prompt response. As I mentioned, the training videos I have found and the ones you posted above do not contain instructions for using these drivers to connect to a mySQL database. Is there any documentation anywhere that would help me out?0
I suppose it will be in the documentation of the MySQL ODBC driver or OLE DB provider. Have you not looked there? A quick Google search gave me this example connection string for specifying a IP address: Server=myServerAddress;Port=1234;Database=myDataBase;Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;-2
Still nothing on this? Trying to connect to mysql wordpress database. I allowed my local ip to access it but software db import is clearly buggy and doesn't work. Is there ANY tutorial for the mysql databases or you don't care about this?0
The posts above are from 9 years ago. Not sure what version of BarTender you are using but the latest version (2021) includes a MySQL database connection option. Not used it personally but it is there now.0
Yes, I have the option. However, not sure how to put the database name in. As it is a droplist, and it shows nothing after I put every single information in.0
Michael Zhao, did you ever get the MySQL connection working? - I'm having the same frustration with it that you described.0
We too are working to get this setup. We see the same issue. I cannot choose the database after choosing the server.0
I can access my database remotely with a DB client software, but not with BarTender V11 (which I am using). At least they should have a test connection button. GIve you some information to ho futher0
