Easy Way To Reconnect To Database
Hello,
We have a set of labels pointing to an access database for part number lookup etc which is working fine.
I now need to password protect the access database due to someone being rather careless with the records.
Is there an easier way of reconnecting the database without having to open each label and remove/add database?
Regards
Ryan

Hello Ryan,
I'm afraid that you will need to access each of your documents, but I don't see why you'll need to remove and add back the database connection. Instead you can simply access the "Options" tab of the database connection setup and click on the "Setup..." button to modify the credentials used to connect to your Access database.
Regards.

Hi Fernando,
Thanks for your reply.
I've tried modifying through the setup options and i get the error - Test connection failed because of an error intializing provider. Cannont start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusivly by another user.
No one else has access to the database, i've rebooted my machine and the mdb file is definitely there
Any ideas?
Regards
Ryan

Hello Ryan,
Not sure what might be happening, maybe something on your OLE DB driver is locking the access to the database? From the error you sent, BarTender basically is not able to access the database for some reason.
In any case, when changing the database in use, make sure that you are not previewing the database data on your label design (you can disable/enable this preview from the small database icon on the bottom left part of the design view), as this feature might be the one already using the database access.
Regards.

Hello,
If you want to connect a BarTender document to an existing database, please take a look at the following training videos.
