Possible To Default Reply A Database Field? 关注

Case: We have an item label that connects to our application database. Every item in our system has a multiple order quantity attached to it. 90% of the time, this is the lot quantity we want on the label. However, I need the quantity on the label to be entered at the time of print since it could be different.

So I'd like to default reply with the item.multiple but have the actual quantity per input linked independently. Can this be done?

Also, if it cannot, if you have any workarounds I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking now, I can show the multiple on the input form, and prompt to enter a quantity only if different, and suppress the field.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your post.

About your question, please let me make sure, that you are requesting is to create a Data Entry Form that allows selecting between a database field and another value? If yes, can you let me know the data source of the another value? Is it coming from a database? should be added by keyboard?

Thanks,

Carlos

Carlos,

Thanks for the reply. I wish to have a Data Entry form with a number field input that would be added by keyboard at the time of print if it differs from a value in our SQL database which I would like to have as the default reply of the input. Basically, at the time of print, the default reply which would pull from the SQL data source could be overwritten by the person printing the labels. so instead of adding a number in the default reply field, I'm wondering if there is some function that can be placed into this area.

Thanks,

Shawn

Hello Shawnmax77,

Please note that BarTender's data entry form can be configured to prompt for each new record to print and, if you relate its controls to a data source of the type "Database Field", it will overwrite the data coming from the database on a "per record basis".

For information on how to design a data entry form please take a look at the below training video:

Thanks Fernando. I see I was overthinking the issue, and that's a simple solution.
