Hi,
New to Bartender. I am trying to connect to an excel spread sheet as a database field and keep getting the unknown error message #6670. Failed to connect to database unknown error 0x800A0BB9. Any ideas???????

Is your spread sheet open in Excel when trying to connect to it? If so, try closing it, I know that you can't have it open when connecting to it in BarTender.

Dear jeff@ccfe,
First, Check your PC's excel connection works in general or not.

try to create a very simple Excel sheet File such as
Field1 Field2
100 John
101 Becky
on Sheet1, then and save as .XLS(Excel 2003) file.

Create a very simple bartender format, then try to connect the excel database above.
(for procedure please check the short video)

If you don't have any error on above, it's likely the Excel sheet you trying to connect has some problem.
Open the Excel sheet and try to make simplify the sheet.
(such as select whole sheet, copy, paste to notepad, then copy from the notepad to a new excel sheet)

If you still have the same error (#6670 etc),
- Switch Excel format to Excel 2007 format (xlsx) or to Excel 2003 format(xls). In BarTender format, remove database connection setup and connect again.
- Try ODBC connection to the Excel sheet(You need to create ODBC datasource by ODBC Administrator)

also in this stage, please ask Seagull Tech Support by e-mail with detailed info, such as BarTender serial number(support number) in Help>About, OS Version/Service pack, Excel version, BarTender format(btw) and the affected Excel sheet attached if possible.

Hope that helps!

I've seen this happen. Pasting to a new excel sheet can often clear the problem.

You may also try saving from Excel to a .txt Tab Delimited file - then try connecting that to Bartender using the Text File option.
