Taking Sample Data name from Filename?
Recently, due to NZ mailing standards updating, we have had to recreate all of our template files for our thermal setups.
Previously with our old setup, when a data source was loaded, the field name's sample data would update to include this. For example, if I load up "sample.txt" as my database, each field would update to include this, e.g. "Field: sample.line1", "Field: sample.line2", "Field: sample.urn", etc. If I then replace that database with a "test.txt" database, these would update to "Field: test.line1", "Field: test.line2", "Field: test.urn", etc.
With my new setups I am unable to replicate this. Removing and adding a new database doesn't update the sample data name to include the database name.
If anyone can share how to get an object's Sample Data name to include the database name it would be much appreciated.

I am not sure you can anymore in 2016 as I believe it automatically looks up the data for the 1st record and populates the on screen data with the matching fields.

If it makes a difference, we are using Professional Edition version 10.1 - which I believe was last updated in 2014?

Sorry Sam I havent got access to 10.1 to test with. Not sure why you would need the database name to be honest as this will not appear when the label is printed anyway. Normally, when I am creating a new template, I would just remove this part from the sample data box anyway and either just leave the field name or add in some dummy data that makes it obvious what field is.

It's not essential to have the database name and we have been running without it, but it lets us see at a glance which data source is loaded which for convenience's sake helps when it comes to setting up multiple files.
The odd thing is if we copy the text fields from the old setup, it maintains the automatic field name updates that I'm trying to replicate, but if we edit the text field it loses that function. I don't know this software in-depth so was just wondering if there was a simple fix I didn't know about - no worries though!
