Print Station not retrieving records though Designer does
Bartender 2019 R9
Oracle Database connection
When I attempt to print a document from Designer, the label works fine and retrieves all the proper records, allowing me to choose which record I would like to print. However, when I do the same thing in Print Station (for the general users) it will not retrieve any records.
Of note: It works fine in Print Station and Designer and all other PCs with Bartender installed. This seems to be a singular install issue. It had worked fine previously.
I have attempted reinstall, repair, reinstall with registry wipe of the Seagull entries I could fine, and clearing the AppData.
In Designer:
In Print Station:
Any thoughts on the matter are greatly appreciated. Any questions, please ask.
Thank you in advance!

May seem a daft suggestion but in the Print Station search bar press delete a couple of times to make sure there are no spurious character in there that are causing a search for a record that does not contain these when it first opens.
If not already configured this way, in the Database Connection Setup option configure it to run under a specific user account that has elevated permissions.

Hello Mike,
Thank you for your post.
I would certainly try out Pete's suggestions. Additionally, checking the images provided it seems that even though in BarTender the records seem to be displayed, the database connection icon looks as if the connection to the database is not available:
So it is quite possible that the root cause of the issue is a connectivity problem with the database, for example, due to permissions as mentioned, that is affecting BarTender as well (although not as noticeable as Print Station).

Hi Laura and Pete,
Thank you for your suggestions. I've attempted both now a couple of times, just to be sure they were done right and with different query data each time, both to no avail.
As stated, the label / DB connection works just fine with the same user on another physical PC, so I really don't think it has to do with permissions. That said, if I run Print Station as an admin or any other user, it works on that PC so it definitely seems to be user profile related at the very least.0 -
Hello Mike,
Thank you for your reply.
As you mention it works when run as admin, on the other PCs where this is working, is the user logged in Windows also a local admin?

Hello Laura,
No they are not. Just as the regular user, same as on the trouble PC.
After all of this, I am just going to deploy another desktop and wipe the one having trouble. It is likely a bug with the software or with some Windows Update it didn't like or something.
Just to be clear, this label works on all PCs with all tested users (admin or not) and even works on the troubled PC in Designer, just not in Print Station.
Thanks to you for taking the time to reply and assist. It is appreciated :)

Some years ago I came across a similar issue with a different one of the companion applications that was user account specific. Nothing seemed to be wrong with the user account it was identical in setup and permissions as other accounts but whenever this user logged on to any PC the app would not work correctly whilst other accounts on the same PCs with the same rights and permissions worked without issue.
It was very annoying as we never to the bottom of this and in the end the customer deleted the user account and recreated it and it worked after that.
