Upgrade License from 10.1 to 2019

I currently have 11 sites running Bartender 10.1, but now a new version of the company system requires we use Bartender 2019. In order for me to use 2019, I have to upgrade the license but with 2019 protocol change, how do I manage my license for both versions until I can upgrade all the older sites? If I move the license to 2019 then my older sites won't be able to get a license anymore, correct?
