Reloading Data Entry Form After Print
Hi, we are just rolling out a project using BarTender 2016 R5 where we are tagging assets with barcodes. To print the barcodes, we're using a mix of the Print Portal app on an iOS device and via the web.
Because of the way that the Portal works, it closes out the data entry form after every print and sends the user back to the root folder, which forces the user to have to re-select the label, select the printer, and wait for the form to load. Is there a way to send the print job and land back on the data entry form, without having to load everything after each print.
I figure that there has to be a way to accomplish this, but since I'm new to using BarTender, I haven't been able to figure out how to make it happen. We're going to be tagging about 10k assets, so suffice it to say, any seconds that I can shave off of the process will be helpful.

This has already been reported as a known issue by many customers. With BarTender 2016 R3 and previous releases, Print Portal would just remain on the same label instead of returning to the main label selection page such as with the latest service releases (currently as of R6). This change came about because there were a few customers that wanted Print Portal to return to main label selection page after printing instead. Unfortunately, what was really needed is an option to do both. In addition, Print Portal didn't really have the concept of actually returning back to the data entry form.
With that being said, we have reported these issues to our development team and requested the following.
- Add an option in Print Portal to either remain on the same label after printing or return to the main selection page.
- Add the ability for Print Portal to support the "Repeat data entry until cancel" option set in the BarTender document so Print Portal will return directly back to the data entry form after print.
Hopefully, we can get this functionality added into Print Portal in a future release of BarTender. I apologize for any inconvenience.
