Not directly no.

Is your label linked to a database of any kind?

If not you could use the GetLocale() VB script command to get the locale ID and then link that to a list of the Locale IDs and countries.

For the image below the 2057 is the GetLocale command with 2057 being the code for the UK where I am. This field you would link to your database filter to do the lookup at print time. However in my sample label (image below) I am using a manual entry field to enter a LocaleID and in this case I have typed in 9217 which is the LocaleID code for the Yemen

As mentioned above if the label is connected to a database already then what I suggested above would not work.

How many countries do you need to include as you could use an If...Then...Else routine?

Thank you for your reply

We have total USA, CANADA, Mexico, India and Poland. We would like to make it auto detect if we open label other than above countries

Sorry misunderstood what you were trying to achieve I thought you were trying to encode into a barcode the country of origin not read from it the country.

If label has a code that is a GS1-128 and has a 422 Application Identifier or else is an EAN-13 / GTIN-13 code them you could find out the country of origin from this otherwise I do not think what you are asking is possible

Hi Pete,

You are correct we are trying to encode into barcode the country of origin anf it should read from where printer or printing computer located physically

I am not aware of GS1-128. could you please explain briefly or share links to understand what do you mean if possible

once again thanks for your time to reply on my post

GS1 are one of the main barcode standard organisations and GS1-128 is a variant of the Code 128 symbology that is configured to match the requirements of their standard.

May need to go back a bit, what labels are you trying to print and where does the information for them come from? What information do you already know about the origin of the products in electronic format? Do the products already have barcodes on them?
