Printing Square POS created barcodes

Greetings, 

I am using Square POS for my new business.   I have been told by Square Customer Support that I can "only" use the Square created barcode labels for my inventory.  If this is correct then I assume I can create a new barcode in Bartender and cut & paste a copy of the Square generated barcode.  My Zebra  DS 6707 scanner connects just fine but is not connecting with the barcode.   Thus item not being added to the cart.   Anyone have any thoughts or experience with using barcodes with Square?
