Dependency Among Data Sources 追蹤

Suppose there are two data sources in a label.

   - Source A: Embedded data

   - Source B: VBscript data

So A is connected to a field in the data entry form and B is a derived value from A.

With the above setting, I have an object in the label which shows the value of B. And I expected that the value of this object would change whenever I enter a different value to the field connected to A. That is, the value of A is determined by the value of the entry field and the value of B is determined by the value of A. But in reality, this cascade of actions didn't happen. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance.

How have you connected object C to the data source of B?  What form of VB script (single line, multi-line, event based) are you using?  What version of BarTender are you using?

I'm using an Automation version and it is a multi-line script but what is does is just an extraction of data and conversion of the format of it. Very simple.

A above is connected to a drop-down list. So when select an item in the list, A has its associated value, which in this case is a long string with |(vertical bar) as its delimiter. Then B's VB script just extract a certain field out of it.

Thanks for your help.

I have similar problem by design for "request print form" by user on print preview for my label template.

I Inner Join 4 Table of my website database. (Pieces + Request Barcode + Users + Barcodes)

As following image I need change Data of Second Dropdown when I select an item in First Dropdown. I mean the data of second one has dependency of selected option from first one.

Also data of the third dropdown should be change by selected items of first and second dropdown. and result is selected barcodes with specified piece selected by specified person in specified date.

How can I handle this? all of data has relation together in 4 databases.

Unless this feature has been added in 2021 (which I am still getting to grips with) I do not think this is possible with dependent drodowns.

You could setup separate database filters to enter the information but if the wrong information is entered BarTender may not find a matchig record. Alternatively you could set up a database filter for the Piece Name and then use a Record Picker table getting the users to use the search box at the top to locate the User and then then pick the date from there.

For example: Prior to the screen below is a database filter field into which the user enters the type of product (in this case Wrap). They have then searched for all the chicken wraps and could then chose the one the want.

Not ideal I know but it does work and you can edit what columns are seen and the order etc to tweak it to how it would work for you.

I hope this helps

Thank you Pete

I hope this useful feature will add in early future.

I change totally the search structure even it's not user friendly, I search by the unique field as RequestID. But, when I get Print preview and select any rows of dropdown, the result is same!!!

what is my mistake? I make it by BarTender tutorial on youtube. is it cause for using one table without join by barcode table in database? because requestID is in one table and barcodes are in another table is same SQL database.

I use one table and also test two inner join table. but when I get RequestID by  text input in the form that connected to this field in database, after preview always same result (11 lables) show to print! I test several ID with different numbers of label, but result was same. not working! what is my mistake?

Look like is Form not working and no effected on result.

And another problem for Label Design:

We have a 3 Tables, Assemble and Production and Products to find All Pieces of Packing list by Main Product Kit Barcode as a key for finding pieces.

actually all pieces barcodes of product kit, are in a column with main product kit barcode relations in another column.

So how we can add each rows of piece barcode depend of Main product kit barcode to each Barcode on Label design?

because they are not column for each piece, they are rows of one column.

Operator also find Main product kit barcode to print packing list.

Please help to find solution.

Thanks

If I understand correctly you need to print  multiple records on the same label in which case this may help

Haha
In fact, you bypassed the system with this method, and in this way you actually printed five 1 cm labels on one 10 cm label. But does the printer not recognize this? Wrong job is not printed?
Is it for 2021 only or available on 2019 also?

If this working is Intelligently shortcut. Unfortunately not.

I do not mean this. Usually parent/child databases are looking same as Table 1.

Table 1:

But apparently BarTendar can only read the information Just in special tables have structure same as Table 2.

Table 2:

Do we have a way to read the information from table same Table 1?

If yes, How?
