Blurred Barcodes With Colour
I have been successfully printing from bartender for several weeks with no problems, however when I add any colour to my labels (in this case a text element), the barcodes blur - they look like a low-res jpg, as if they've been through some sort of compression. The other text elements (colour or B&W) remain crisp.
I have tried printing to PDF, and then printing the PDF onto labels, and it fixes the blurring problem, but slightly changes the size so the alignment is out.
I am printing to a SHARP MX-4111N PCL6 device.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Any chance you could attach a picture of a label which suffers this problem, so that we may see what we are dealing with?
Could you try installing and using either a postscript or PCL5 variation of your printer driver? Most manufacturers will have such a driver variation available. It is not uncommon for PCL6 based drivers to suffer strange issues such as this.0 -

I've attached an example from a colour and a black and white printing. Note these are from the same file, everything identical except the printer was told to print in black and white or colour. Hopefully you can see in the colour printing that the barcode is blurred, as if it has been converted to a low-res raster graphic.
I will look into drivers if I get a chance, so I'm sorry I can't comment yet whether that will fix it.

Are you using the barcode object of BarTender or are you importing the barcode onto the label as a picture object? It seems to me that the printer is making a dithering pattern in the white back ground of the barcode in order to simulate an off-white colour. Maybe tweaking the printer driver settings on how it renders images and dithering patterns used might help fix this. 0 -
I agree, that's exactly what it looks like - but I am using the barcode object in bartender, and the two printouts were produced from the same file! So it seems that the barcode object is handled differently if there is colour used, which is very puzzling. Haven't found a solution yet. 0
