Make sure you have the latest service release for v10.0 SR4 installed: http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/fixes_100.aspx

Also, please read through the following white paper on GHS if you've not already done so: http://www.seagullscientific.com/label-software/whitepapers/ghs-compliance-labeling-old-201406.pdf

Hi  - I do have the latest service release installed. any other thoughts? do I need to add something in the database or VB script in-order to print PNG files? These are being linked via an Excel spreadsheet and the pictograms themselves are external files.

    Thanks,

A jpg doesn't support transparency, hence the white background of the image on top obscuring the one beneath.  You'd need to use an image type that support transparency, such as PNG or GIF, and for those images to have a transparent background.  Any reason why you don't make use of the BarTender GHS sample that can be modified to your needs as this will result in correctly formatted, not overlapping/obscuring, pictograms?

PNG images should just print like any other image type.  If they don't then there is obviously a problem somewhere.

Where can I get the Bartender GHS sample?

In BarTender, "File>Open" menu item, then navigate to the "BarTender Documents>GHS" folder.

PNG images do not print. JPG prints but the square creeps into the other images. Trying to determine why the PNG graphics do not print. This is happening with multiple printers.

Could well be an issue with the driver in use.  We've had such instances before when handling transparency.  You could also try the latest BarTender Trial to see if that helps.  If you still have problems I recommend you get in touch with tech-support for your region.

Thanks for sending the info on the demo label. I see it now. Where is the demo pulling images from and what format the images in?

Make visible and unlock the "Scripted" layer.  The GHS symbols are placed and grouped just above the top edge of the label area.  The VB scripting dynamically positions, scales them etc according to the chemical product in use.  I think the GHS pictograms are based on PNG, but rotated by 45º and you'll note that the diamonds are assembled out of rotated drawing objects too.  Be sure to read the white paper on this as it tell you how to make use of the sample.
