Can you let us know the exact syntax you're using for these commands and which commands you're using?

What version of the Seagull printer driver are you using for this printer?

Also, from which application are you later printing your labels? Are you printing from BarTender? If yes, let me know which Edition, Version and Build of BarTender you're using. If you're printing from an application which keeps media and printer related settings inside the document, these settings will be sent at print time and will overwrite whatever setting you've previously established via sending commands to the printer.

    Thank you for your reply.

I am using the standard programming commands to change settings on the card printers, such as the printhead resistance (!R XXXX) or (!SA) to tell the machine to calibrate the ribbon sensor. Zebra call it the EPCL command language. These commands sent through the driver are the only way to set these parameters.

I have images I could show to help describe the problem but your website won't allow images to be posted from links to Zebra or our website unfortunately.

We are resellers of these printers and for the older machines the only way our customers can use them on Windows 7 or above is with your drivers, which is a godsend. However when it comes to sending necessary programming commands we are having to bring the machines back to connect them to a machine running XP. Your help therefore would be much appreciated.

Have you considered having your customers use BarTender instead for printing the cards?

BarTender can also be integrated with ERP / database systems or via third party applications:

Other than this, you might try using the "Send file to printer" driver feature and try to send an already existing print file to the printer to see if it reacts appropriately.

    Hi,

I am nor sure what any of that has got to do with not being able to send programming commands as this has got nothing to do with printing an image. My customers are provided with a trail version of Bartender.

But there is a requirement to change parameters from the driver which are just as important as being able to print.

Your programmers must know what I am talking about as these commands are sent from your drivers to change the type of ribbon installed and such like. Do you have a colleague who might be able to shed light on this?

Most of the settings you're trying to change will probably be available to be changed directly from BarTender's "File > Print > Document Properties" dialog (and will be sent to the printer with each print job). For calibrating the sensor I'm afraid that we don't have any direct command for this.

If any of the "Document Properties" dialog settings are appropriate for the settings you're wishing to change, could you please try them (by printing your cards via BarTender) and let me know if they work properly?

Yes, it will probably be useful that someone from Seagull driver development offers some assistance on this one. If you prefer, you can get in contact with our technical support department by email:
