How To Clear The Print Buffer
Printer? We scan a work order barcode that opens label format in
Bartender which works fine. The problem is that the previous label format
Is still in the printer. How can I clear the print buffer so the new format loads. Thanks

Assuming a Seagull printer driver is in use, with BarTender v10.1 or above, you'll find under the "Options" sub-tab of the "Print" dialog an option titled, "Cancel any jobs previously queued to this printer". This will kill any currently running print job in the printer to thus replace it with the print job that is now being generated. This feature is typically used for customers running a label applicator in conjunction with an unlimited quantity print job.

Your correct. It is a label applicator with unlimited print quantity.
Is there a way to do this in V9.3 of Bartender? And yes it is a seagull

From the BarTender "Print" dialog click the "Document Properties" button, select the "Page Setup" tab, click the "Advanced Options" button, and then under the "User Commands" tab for the "Start of Job" event, enter in the below ZPL commands:
^XA
~JA
^XZ
You might be able to get it to work with the ~JA on its own. Not 100% sure, so you'll need to give it a go. Note that these settings are saved as part of the document file.

I checked the "Cancel any jobs previously queued to this printer" under options and received the message: "The selected printer does not support cancelling jobs using a printer command. You will need to cancel the job from the printer's front panel, or by turning the printer off and back on."
It seems that this is a printer problem and not Seagull's problem but I could really use some help if anyone has experienced this issue.

matthewmohr: You'll get that message when using a non-Seagull printer driver, or when the printer model simply doesn't support the command to clear a print job from the printer's buffer. In any case, it sounds like you need to kill the print job in the Windows spool queue which is another matter entirely.

We have similar problems with a label applicator we are using in our manufacturing environment. The applicator uses a Sato printer and we use Seagull drivers. When I tried to use the clear print queue option, bartender stated that this option was not supported by the printer.
I also try something similar with sending a command at the start of the job, but the command does not reach the printer because another job is in the queue. I believe Sato uses a command like, <ESC>A * <ESC>Z to clear the job loaded in the printer.
Any suggestions on how we could only have one job in the queue for these printers without giving the users access to the Windows print queues.
Thanks,
John

booz75: What BarTender/driver version are you using? I would recommend using the latest service release for your BarTender version, and the latest printer driver version. What Sato printer model do you have? It should be noted that there are some Sato printers out there that don't support this feature. Sorry, but I don't have a full list of such printers but they include the SATO M-5900, M-5900L, and M-5900RV models.

Hi, I am working with different types of printer. In particular I'm using a Zebra ZM400 (203 dpi) - ZPL, Markem-Imaje CimJet 4'' (300 dpi) and Mectec T50 RH (300 dpi).
I'd need to send to all of them the command to clear the printer buffer.
With the Zebra I can do it no problem using the command CancelAllJobs, while with the other two I get: Action "CancelAllJobs" is not supported for printer.
Is there a way to clear the buffer of the printer that is supported by all of the above printers?
Best regards,
Mark Saccomandi
