Looking For Suggestions On A Process Design Issue
Hi all,
I'm new to BarTender and wasn't sure where this issue really fits in, so I put it in General in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction. Here is my situation:
We have a very simple price label that we need to print. I have a source file that BarTender reads to get the Price and Number of Copies to print. So far this is all pretty straight forward.
For each line in my source file, there is additional information, such as Item Number and Line Number that I would like to have print at the conclusion of Price copies.
For example, if the following were my source file:
Item,Line_Number,Retail_Price,Copies
12345,1,$20.00,5
23456,2,$29.00,8
12345,3,$20.00,10
After BarTender prints the 5 $20.00 labels, I'd like a separator (which I imagine is a separate label template) with the Item (12345) and Line (1) info on it before it moves on to print the 8 labels for $29.00.
Is something like this possible? I suppose the info label can print either at the beginning or the end if that helps.
I am open to any ideas/suggestions on how to achieve this or similar process.
Thanks!
JP

This is available on Automation and above. See my screenshot. My database field name is "date", but set yours to whatever (such as "Item"). Template 2 will print at the end of the "Group", defined as each record.

Thanks! I'll give that a try.

Hello again. I am failing to figure out how to create the group, as illustrated in your screen shot. If you are able provide me with an update on how to achieve this, that would be great.
Also, if it is helpful, we are running BarTender Enterprise Automation 10.0 SR1.
Thanks,
JP

You start by creating a second template (Right click on "template 1" tab on the bottom and insert a new one). Then you go to the template properties (Right click on either template, hit "properties")

I've inserted a couple of new templates, but I cannot seem to get them to "group" as your screenshot shows. Here is what my screen looks like. Is this something new in 10.1?

Hi nRyder,
I installed a trial version of 10.1 and found in the Page Setup menu an "Enable Page Template" option. Selecting this option created the Group folders as indicated in your original post and this does indeed achieve the desired results.
I appreciate your help! Now I need to see about an upgrade...
Thanks,
JP

Sorry about that confusion. It's hard to memorize every new feature in every new version of BarTender.
