Using a btw fille to create a string without printing
Hello,
I'm new to bartender and am wondering if anyone has encountered this before. Most of our lines print serial numbers on labels. For those, we can use a .btw file to format the string and print the label. Some of our lines use laser engraving. However, I still want to point to bartender to generate the serial string. This is because we want a single source and we can utilize the data manipulation tools in Bartender to format the serial string as needed. Can I use a web api to call a .btw file, return the string, but not print the label?

The BTW file is the label file that just BarTender uses.
Have you thought about adding an extra printer (that matches your printer/engraver) and set it to Print to File and so when a print request is sent instead of printing the label the label commands are saved in a (by default) .PRN file? You would need to have a printer licence available for this on your licence.
