Hello, everyone.
I'm just starting to deal with this software and I need some help.
Could you explain to me how I can create a dropdown menu, a bound database or an excel file?
My wish is to have a dropdown menu on the "Template 1" sheet so I can choose. Then, when I use ctrl+p, I can print the label with the value I chose.
The problem is that the values of the drop-down menu must be loaded from a file or database because the labels will be few. When I have to change the values of the drop-down menu, I will replace only one file or db and I will not have to correct each label.
Thanks for the help and the time you give me.
Sincerely,

I think is is what you mean.

  1. As the required text field on to your template
  2. Click on Form 1 at the bottom
  3. Press the Data Entry Control button and select Dropdown List and then click on the form to add it
  4. Double Click on the new object to go into the Properties
  5. Set the Source to Database or External File and configure the link
  6. Then from the left hand column chose Text Label and then replace the "Select Value" in the text box on the right of the screen with a meaningful request that the operators would understand such as Select Product Code or Customer or whatever it is this field relates to
  7. Again from the left hand column click on the Linked Data Source and then from the new screen choose the field added in 1 above
  8. Click Close and then click on the Template 1 to return to your label screen.

(NOTE: you could add extra fields to your Data Entry Form such as either a Text or Number field and link this to the "Copies" field to control the number of labels and you could also add an Image > Preview of Template to display a picture of the label that will be updated with the dropdown value once it is selected)

I hope this helps

Hello,
Thanks for the help. This explanation is just like a beginner - it really helped me.
I have one more question - is it possible to make the choice on the "Template1" sheet, not at the time of printing?
Just on the "Template1" sheet to be this dropdown menu and there to have a choice. And in the case that I have chosen once, I do not have to choose a menu value again at each print.

No you cannot add a dropdown list item on the template itself however you can tweak some of the settings for the dropdown options.

Follow 2 to 4 as above and when in the Properties

  • Click on the Data Entry Option in the left hand column
  • In the right hand side of the new screen adjust the Default to Use Sample Data and tick the Update Sample Data after Print. With these enabled the label field on the Template will now show the last value selected as will the dropdown the next time you go into it and so the use can just TAB passed this option.
  • You can also adjust the Frequency drop down to prompt when at the top of the screen to control when the users are requested to enter this data

(As with 8 above click Close and Template 1 to return to the design screen but note the value on the screen will not change initially until you print a label)

I hope this helps
