Need Both Upc-A And Ean-13 Barcode On One Label Format
We create shelf tags for products by pulling from a database where the product table has all items in it we sell. There are UPC-A products, UPC-E, EAN-8, and EAN-13 products. We sell over 180,000 items. The EAN items are International items. Some depts have products with all these type bar codes. When printing shelf tags any of these items can be in the batch or file, but you have to specify the barcode symbology on the label template/format. So, for example, you have the label template set to UPC-A for the barcode type, and there are 100 UPC-A items and 20 EAN-13 items in the batch or file, the EAN-13 item barcodes will not be created.
Isn't there a way to automatically create the barcode whether it is a UPC-A item or EAN-13 item?
Thanks,
Vicki

In BarTender 10.1 we have added 'conditional printing' which combined with layering will allow you to have multiple barcodes, then print them based off of a condition. Probably the easiest way to achieve this if they are all in the same field would be to set up a text object off the label, set it as a VB script, use a single line object, then use the len() function to see how many characters are in the field. Then use conditional printing to specify which object to print.
