Use Auto-Update with Print Gateway in BarTender Cloud
Overview
Print gateway auto-update is a feature aimed at reducing the maintenance burden for BarTender environment by periodically checking for software updates to the print gateway and installing them in the background without the need for user intervention.

Activate Auto-Update
Follow the below steps to activate print gateway auto-update:
- Open the BarTender Print Gateway Settings page.
- Click on Update Settings in the bottom right.
- Check the Enable Auto-Update checkbox and click Save.
How Auto-Update Works
Once enabled the user will no longer need to manually update print gateway.
The first update check happens directly after the print gateway service is started. After that checks happen every 5 hours.
When a new software update is detected, it is downloaded automatically. When the update is ready to install, print jobs are paused, print gateway is closed and the software update is installed. After the installation, print gateway is restarted and your print jobs are resumed.
Update logs
If you need to review the update logs for print gateway, you can find them in the following location:
- C:\ProgramData\Seagull\ClientPrint\Logs\PrintGateway\CurrentLog.txt
Look for entries with the following keywords:
- AutoUpdateService
- InitiateAutoUpdate
